Management

David Kellogg
President and CEO

Dave has worked in the database and applications software industry for over 20 years, and has strong experience in marketing, operations, strategy, and product lifecycle management. Prior to joining Mark Logic, Kellogg served as senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Business Objects, a leading business intelligence software company. Kellogg was a key member of the executive team that grew Business Objects from $30M in revenues and 250 people to over $850M in revenues and over 4,000 people during his nine years there. Before Business Objects, Kellogg was vice president of marketing at Versant Object Technology, a provider of object database management systems. Prior to that, he held a number of technical and marketing positions with Ingres Corporation, a maker of relational database systems and tools. Kellogg has a dual bachelor’s degree in geophysics and applied mathematics from the University of California at Berkeley, and a master’s degree in business administration from Saint Mary’s College.

Christopher Lindblad
Founder and Chief Architect

Chris is a seasoned technologist with over 20 years of software development experience. Before founding Mark Logic, Chris was the architect of Ultraseek Server, Infoseek’s enterprise search application, now one of Autonomy’s principal products following the acquisition of Verity. Chris had overall responsibility for the creation of Ultraseek Server, including the architecture, design, and development. Prior to Infoseek, Chris pursued post-doctoral research in high-speed networks and real-time video processing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). During his research tenure at MIT, Chris authored over 15 publications in internet and multi-media technologies. Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and computer science from the California Institute of Technology, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in computer science from MIT.

Max Schireson
Senior Vice President of Field Operations

Max has more than 15 years of experience in database, web, and enterprise software solutions. Prior to joining Mark Logic, Max held a variety of executive positions at Oracle Corporation, including vice president of applications development and chief applications architect. In those positions, Max led a team of over 200 professionals and ran an $80 million business. Max also held information technology responsibilities for the Oracle web store, which accounted for over 70% of US orders, and for Oracle’s web technical support infrastructure, which processed over 80% of customer support requests for more than 400,000 Oracle customers. In addition, Max started Oracle's e-commerce consulting practice, which he grew to over 200 consultants and over $50 million in revenue, worldwide.

Andrew Feit
Senior Vice President of Marketing

Andy brings to Mark Logic more than 20 years of high technology marketing and sales experience. Prior to joining Mark Logic, he served as chief marketing officer of Knova, where he expanded Knova's presence in the customer service and support markets while extending the company's reach across new markets. Before joining Knova, Andy was senior vice president of marketing at Adomo, and prior to Adomo, he served as senior vice president of marketing for Verity, Inc., where he was responsible for worldwide marketing and product strategy for the company's full range of search, categorization, and business process management solutions, generating more than $140M in annual revenues. Previously, Andy held executive and marketing positions at Quiver, Inktomi, and Infoseek. Andy holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Tufts University.

David Ponzini
Senior Vice President of Corporate and Business Development

Dave brings to Mark Logic more than 20 years of high technology experience. Prior to joining Mark Logic, Dave was vice president of corporate and business development at AlarmPoint Systems where he was instrumental in developing an OEM channel and managing the company’s strategic relationship with BMC Software. Before that, Dave served as vice president of corporate and business development at Verity, Inc., where he was responsible for the acquisition and integration of four companies. Previously he was vice president of business development at Inktomi, where he managed partner strategy and key business relationships. Dave holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from San Jose State University and master’s degree in business administration from Saint Mary’s College.

Ian Small
Senior Vice President and General Manager, MarkMail

Ian joined Mark Logic immediately after its initial funding round, and was most recently Senior Vice President of Products, a position he held for five years, during which he was responsible for product strategy, release definition, and product engineering. Prior to Ian's joining Mark Logic, he was founder and chief development officer of CogentSoft, an enterprise data management startup. Before CogentSoft, Ian was the chief strategist and knowledge officer at marchFirst, a position that followed his earlier role as chief technology officer at CKS Group. In these roles, Ian had a broad executive mandate which included corporate strategy, market positioning, knowledge management, and merger integration. Prior to his five-year tenure at CKS, USWeb/CKS, and marchFirst, Ian worked at Apple Computer for 7 years, where he led several advanced product and research teams. In his final role at Apple, Ian was responsible for the engineering management and product release of QuickTime VR. A holder of nine US patents, Ian has a bachelor’s of applied science degree in engineering science and master’s degree in computer science from the University of Toronto.

Leonora Teng
Vice President of Finance

Leonora has extensive experience in accounting and finance operations at both public and private companies. Prior to Mark Logic, Leonora served as vice president of finance at PayPal, and prior to that as controller at PayPal. At PayPal, Leonora was responsible for building the accounting team, managing the accounting function, developing the financial model, and assisting in multiple rounds of private financing. She worked on the SEC registration process for the company's initial public offering (IPO) and contributed to the due diligence that preceded the company’s $1.5B acquisition by eBay. Leonora is a certified public accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of California at Berkeley.

Josh Narva
Vice President of People

Josh has over 10 years of experience building highly effective management teams at rapidly growing, venture-backed startup companies. Prior to Mark Logic, Josh was director of recruiting at Harmonic Communications, a Sequoia Capital portfolio company, where he played an integral role in building the executive team and growing the company to over 60 people. Prior to Harmonic, Josh was an associate in the international technology practice of Heidrick & Struggles. He began his career as a research analyst in the Boston office of McDermott, Will & Emery, a large international law firm. Josh received his bachelor’s degree in government and law from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania.

Mark Kvamme
Chairman

Mark Kvamme focuses on services and software investments for Sequoia Capital. He is currently a Director of Cast Iron Systems, AdBrite, EMN8, Mark Logic, MotoSport.com, LinkedIn, and StrongMail Systems. Previously, he was a director of Corvigo (acquired by Tumbleweed Communications) and Allocity (acquired by EMC). Prior to joining Sequoia Capital in 1999, Mark was chairman of USWeb/CKS and chairman and chief executive officer of CKS Group prior to its merger with USWeb. Earlier in his career Mark was a director of international marketing for Wyse Technology, the president and chief executive officer of International Solutions, and a founding member of Apple France. Mark has a bachelor's degree in French economics and literature from the University of California at Berkeley.

Tom Banahan

Tom is a managing director in the private equity division, head of global venture capital, and a partner in the venture capital group at Lehman Brothers. Tom also has managerial responsibility for the European venture capital and communications venture groups at Lehman Brothers. He is currently a director of Composite Software, Infoblox, Mark Logic, Network Telephone Company, Primarion and was formerly a director of PentaSafe Security Technologies (acquired by NetIQ). Before joining Lehman Brothers in 1999, Tom spent 20 years building technology companies, most recently at Marimba where he was the vice president of business development. Prior to Marimba, he was vice president of worldwide sales for Spyglass and vice president of sales for Comdisco. Tom began his career in the sales organization at IBM where he spent seven years. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Thomas Weatherford

Thomas Weatherford has over 35 years experience in senior financial positions for global technology companies. Thom retired in 2003 as executive vice president and chief financial officer of business intelligence software leader Business Objects S.A., having held that position since 1997. He previously held senior financial positions at NETCOM On–Line Communication Services, Logitech, Texas Instruments, Schlumberger, and Tandem Computers in the US, Europe, and Japan. In addition to Mark Logic, Thom currently serves on the boards of Saba Software, Inc., Synplicity Inc., Tesco Corporation, Advanced Analogic Technologies, SMART Modular Technologies and several private companies. He holds a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Houston.
